About Bellbird Tours

Far North Queensland is without doubt Australia’s top birding destination. A variety of tropical habitats including tropical rainforests, palm-fringed beaches, mangrove-lined mudflats, tropical savannahs and cool mountain ranges result in a bird diversity unparalleled elsewhere in the country. Traversing the unique Cape York Peninsula from Cairns, during this tour we aim to find all Far North Queensland specialties. Expect well over 200 species including all the important birds this area is well-known for, including Golden-shouldered Parrot, Frill- necked Monarch, White-streaked Honeyeater, nesting Red Goshawks, Palm Cockatoo, Eclectus Parrot and of course Cassowary. We will also spend two days in the Wet Tropics around Cairns, picking up the 13 endemics local to that area which includes mouth-watering specialties such as Blue-faced Parrot-finch. We’ll be running 2 tours during the tropical dry season in 2017: one commencing 24 May and another one commencing 24 July.
