Cooya Beach is a unique coastal place which has three diverse ecosystems - beach, mangrove and coastal reef - that are connected to each other by the ever-changing mudflats and tidal lagoons.
Along the way your guide will highlight some of the coastal and mangrove plants which have long been used for medicinal purposes and food by the Kuku Yalanji people.
At the end of the tour feast on your catch of the day with freshly home made damper and a refreshing drink.

Just a 15 minute drive north of Port Douglas is beautiful Cooya Beach, traditional fishing grounds of the Kuku Yalanji people and home to Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours
On this 2 hour tour your Kuku Yalanji guide will introduce you to the traditional fishing and gathering techniques including spear throwing and handling as it is still practised today. With spear in hand, join yur guide for an informative walk along the white sandy beach and pristine waters of Cooya Beach through coastal mudlfats and mangrove habitat teeming with aquatic life, in search of mud-crabs, mussels and small fish
Along the way your guide will highlight some of the coastal and mangrove plants which have long been used for medicianal purposes and food by the Kuku Yalanji. At the end of the tour taste your catch of the day, freshly home made damper a refreshing drink.

The Walker family are members of the Kuku Yalanji people who have lived in this area for tens of thousands of years. Their traditional lands are part of the beautiful World Heritage rainforest area and encompass the Bloomfield Falls after which Wujal Wujal is named. They will take you on a walk with a difference, giving you the opportunity see this country through the eyes of it's traditional custodians.
Bloomfield Falls Tours- The Walkers share some of their knowledge about this special place and explain why the Falls are of geat cultural significance to the Yalanji people. You'll also receive a fascinating insight into the many different uses of the rainforest plants for food, medicine and ceremonial purposes.

Rainbow Serpent Rock Art Tour
This tour takes you to the Nugal rock art sites, set in stunning countryside high in the hills above Hope Vale. You’ll visit six sites, including the Reconciliation Cave and an ancestral Birthing Site, where Willie shares the stories behind the art – stories which can only be told by Elders of the Nugal clan - and explains how the paintings speak of the essence of life and the lores of his people. With his great smile and infectious laugh, Willie gives you an amazing insight into Aboriginal society and spirituality, and has you thinking about your own relationship with the land and how the lores of his people can apply to us all.
The tour includes an estimated 30-minute bush walk on generally easy terrain.

On the Rainbow Serpent Tour, Nugal-warra Elder Willie Gordon takes you through a dramatic landscape to six rock art sites, including the Rainbow Serpent Cave and an ancestral Birth Site where his grandfather were born. Here he explains the stories and meanings behind the art, giving you a unique insight into Aboriginal philosophy and spirituality. And as you walk the ancient tracks used by the Nugal people for centuries, Willie shares some of his vast knowledge of the land you’re in: its bush tucker and medicines, creatures which forecast the weather, flowers which give messages, leaves which make soap, how to interpret snake tracks or give a little lizard a drink….No two tours are ever the same, but whatever happens you’ll be enchanted and enthralled.
The tour includes an estimated 30-minute bush walk. There is a short climb to two of the sites, but generally the terrain is easy. The tour is not suitable for those with limited mobility or respiratory problems.
